Ultimate Leadership: The Ultimate Challenge

Brad LindemannBrad Lindemann, President/CEO

I recently participated in a "one-week intensive workshop designed to help you grow and succeed" led by Drs. Henry Cloud and John Townsend. It's called "Ultimate Leadership" (UL) and for many of the participants (myself included), it was the ultimate challenge. This was no tips and techniques seminar. It was a thoroughly researched and carefully designed educational and experiential process. The primary purpose of the UL process is to identify those issues in each participant's life that are preventing him/her from being the best leader possible –the ultimate leader. This is accomplished through a rigorous combination of lectures and small process group sessions.

While the lectures are worth the price of admission, the "secret sauce" is in the small process groups consisting of eight team members. By divine coincidence, I was a member of the Orange Team (as in Ambassador orange). How can a group of perfect strangers from all over the country meet after dinner on a Sunday night and leave amidst hugs and tears on Friday afternoon? It's not magic, but it is real and impossible to explain absent the obvious presence of God throughout the week. If you don't want to meet Him, then you don't want to go. Who else could have known how to align the small groups so that personalities and life experiences matched so beautifully? "Intensive" doesn't begin to describe how powerful these process group sessions are. For many, they were literally life-changing.

Beyond my UL experience, I found Cloud and Townsend to be an incredible one-two punch. The way they've melded psychology with theology and woven it throughout their teachings is powerful in its effects. These guys don't talk theory. Everything they teach has been clinically proven and thoroughly validated through the experiences of their counseling and coaching clients around the country. Both have chosen to concentrate their efforts upon leaders and consequently spend a great deal of time in front of Fortune 500 executives, though you'll never hear either of them drop a single name. As prolific authors, they have produced some truly ground-breaking works in the areas of relationships, leadership and parenting. They've sold over 2 million copies of their seminal book, Boundaries, while their Solutions For Life web site is a veritable storehouse of, well…solutions for life. Check out their Video Channels for answers to several thousand of the commonly asked questions.

So, if you're up for the ultimate challenge, I would encourage you consider participating in the "Ultimate Leadership" workshop. At $2,295 it is truly a leadership development bargain. They hold a new workshop every other month with the next one being July 13-18 in San Juan Capistrano, California. If you have any questions about the workshop, feel free to call me at 317-275-3110.
